Tamborre Design group is a Full Service architecture Firm that has the ability to take a project from Conception to Construction. The firm has the ability to provide their Clients a complete Architectural and Engineering Service. They also provide a complete Interior Design Service.
Project summary:
The Tamborre Design group has requested a redesign of their website. The current site has many problems in the way that the information is presented. They want to have a more contemporary layout and improve the pictures and the general structure in the information organization.
The new site would have an easy to use navigation system but implementing reorganization and hierarchical structuring of the information and the design of the option menu to improve the navigation through the page.
The page would have a design that is more contemporary and interactive with a better balance between the elements involved in the composition, a color palette that work with the pictures of the firm projects and a more effective typography.
Business objectives/goals
Tamborre Design group will be an architectural firm specializing in residential, commercial and institutional architecture in domestic and international markets based out of the New York state. The firm will provide architectural services using technologically superior processes, providing greater value for clients and enhanced design and construction.
The main objective of the website is to provide the necessary information about the services that Tamborre Design group can provide. The main philosophy of the firm is focus on fulfilling client dreams and needs. The firm work with clients to create new and beautiful spaces that meet their goals.
The single purpose is to make the new website more compelling and easier to navigate, with much information that is clear and easy to access. To offer the information necessary to attract new clients who need an architect services.
Target audience
The target client is segmented into four categories; home owners, developers, government, and contractors.
Perception strategy
The actual perception of the firm is uninterested, old fashioned, and it is very hard to find the main message or philosophy of the firm. The actual site doesn’t have a good hierarchy of information and needs to improve the treatment of the heading lines, different tittles, and the pictures quality.
The strategy is to reorganize the information to give the users better tools to navigate through the page. Improving the navigation bar, designing a more cohesive layout, with better color contrast, better pictures, new color palette and a different treatment of tittles and text in general.
Because it is an architect’s website is very important to improve the quality of the pictures in the new site.
Message strategy
The new website will provide a clear information about the firm philosophy what services the group can do and a good picture gallery and portfolio of all the firms projects.
The new site will transmit the main goals of the firm, architectural solutions that will compliment the built environment; age gracefully, growing more beautiful with time.

Lycée International of Los Angeles.
Big picture:
The Lycée International of Los Angeles (LILA) is a school founded in 1978 by a small group of people from French, American and other backgrounds. They based the school’s curriculum on the French International educational system. The project is the redesign of the present LILA school web site.

The new Website will provide to the owners an organized environment to help in the update and maintenance process.
The page would have a design that is more contemporary and interactive with a better balance between the elements involved in the composition, better color palette and a more effective typography.

The main objective of the web site is to provide better information services to the different people who conform the LILAC community school.
The single purpose is to make the new website more compelling and easier to navigate, with much information but that is clear and easy to access.

Target audience
The community of users that belongs to the LILA School, students, parents, teachers and general staff.
Parents or legal guardians who are looking for schools with an excellent academic curriculum and a safe place for students from kindergarten until high school.
Perception strategy
The actual site doesn’t have a good hierachy of information and needs to improve the treatment of the heading lines and different tittles. The main navigation menu is confusing and needs to be improved. Needs better pictures and icons.The color palette and the gradients do not work well and also have to many types of fonts.
The strategy is to reorganize the information to give the users better tools to navigate through the page. Improving the navigation bar, designing a more cohesive layout, with better color contrast, a new color palette and a different treatment of tittles and text in general.
Message strategy
LILA School has the best academic program for students, a modern system of education and a complete and secure environment in every location and campus.
The website will have a complete reference and explanation of the different programs involved in the curriculum. The design will be clear and precise shown in a contemporary style and presenting a lot of information in a simple way. Two words: Academics interest + innovative and creative way in the presentation of the information. Because this is a bilingual school, the information has to be provided in English and French.

Chapter 3.
How do you stay up-to-date with graphic and web design? When you’re stuck working on a design problem, how do you find answers or help with what you’re working on?
When I feel that I am stuck in a design process I like to look for inspiration in different forms. First I do specialized research in Internet through Google or other search engines. I visit pages of famous graphic designers, or website of organizations like aiga.org or spaces like smashingmagazine.com. Another one of my favorite activities to be up to date of what happens in the area of graphic design is to visit the bookstore Hennessey + Ingalls, I love this place. I am always looking for which one is the best magazine to subscribe but I never do it, not yet. Finally I really believe that to travel is the major source of inspiration for any design.
